MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Anticipating the crowds that will flock to South Beach over the New Year’s holiday, Miami Beach has decided to close a section of Ocean Drive to traffic.
The city made the announcement Monday morning on their Twitter account.
As part of #NYE celebrations, Ocean Drive will be closed to vehicles from 5 ST to 13 ST beginning on 12/31 at 7AM until 1/3 at 7AM

In addition to Ocean Drive, the city’s Bark Beach at Collins Avenue between 80th and 81st streets will also be closed on Friday, New Year’s Day.
Thousands of revelers are expected to ring in the new year on the sands of Miami Beach. A fireworks show is scheduled for New Year’s Eve on Ocean Drive at 9th Street.
The night before the city will host the free CapitalOne Beach Bash featuring Ryan Lewis, Macklemore and the Imagine Dragons.
